Keanu Reeves’ Two Words That Made Him Meme-Worthy
Recently, Chad Stahelski appeared in a Watchalong episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz to watch John Wick: Chapter 4 with the host. During this, the pair discussed the minimal amount of words that Keanu Reeves has spoken in the entire film: only 380!
Regardless, the actor still managed to deliver one of his most exceptional performances of all time in this movie as well, thanks to the remarkable depth his mere presence holds. But besides that, there was one thing that Reeves said the most: the word “Yeah.”
As surprising as it may be to those fans who don’t know, “Woah” and “Yeah” and two words that Reeves can say most uniquely each time, making it nothing short of meme-worthy. And even the filmmaker of John Wick agrees!
As Chad Stahelski said in the podcast:
“I think [Keanu Reeves] has at least two dozen different ways to say, ‘Woah.’”
To this, Josh Horowitz admitted that no other actor in the entire world can do more with a “woah” and a “yeah” than The Matrix star. Responding to this, the director went on to say:
“I think we own the ‘yeah'(s). Bill & Ted may have the ‘woah'(s).”
Whatever the reason behind it may be, Keanu Reeves has most certainly given the world the most epic meme material with all the multiple ways he can say the two dialogues in two of the most opposite franchises of all time: John Wick and Bill & Ted!
Keanu Reeves Shares What Saying “Yeah” Means To John Wick
Considering the uncountable times Keanu Reeves says “Yeah” in the movie, with each time the word coming out of his mouth differently, one interviewer from Mediacorp Entertainment couldn’t help but ask if he was “contractually obligated” to say that word in the movie.
Answering this question, the Constantine actor said:
“Yeah, that was the, that’s the job. I think when he does say that, I feel like it communicates a lot of ideas at the same time, you know? I feel like his ‘Yeah'(s) are like taking in a lot of information and feeling and it kind of encapsulates–it says a lot with one word, you know. It’s just like, yeah.”
Laughing, he continued to emphasize the importance of the word ‘Yeah’ to his John Wick character, saying:
“You know, it’s like agreeing but disagreeing. And it kind of conveys his disappointment. And it’s often like, yeah, you want to go this way, but actually, it’s going to go this way.”
Well, from all the different and uncountable times Keanu Reeves has said “Yeah” throughout the John Wick movie series, claiming that the word has become his signature phrase won’t be an understatement!
The first three films in the John Wick franchise are available on Peacock, John Wick: Chapter 4 is streaming on Starz.
