Although the comic books give the audience a good idea of what is to come, the writers have veered off the script many time before

AMC’s The Walking Dead series finale premieres on August 22nd, 2021, and fans are already trying to predict what is to come.

Fans have been waiting 11 years for this bloody franchise to wrap up the storylines of some of the best characters on television. Hershel, Michonne, Glenn, Rick, Carl, Carol, Daryl, and even the former villain Negan, all blessed our screens with gory and honor. All of these characters found refuge in one another during a time when the world was over as they knew it.

Luckily, we won’t be saying goodbye to every beloved character after the season ends. Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl Dixon, and Melissa McBride’s, Carol Peletier, already landed spinoffs after the series closes.

In the comics, the war with the Whisperers comes to a head. The plot shifts into its endgame however, Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, is still alive in the comics. Rick leads his people to a place called The Commonwealth, one of the most advanced societies of the apocalypse, where an all-out war breaks with their people. Rick dies during this battle and then the comic leaps decades later, post-apocalypse.

Carl Grimes, Rick’s son, is reading a book called, The Walking Dead, to his young daughter. This book is a tribute to his late father, Rick Grimes, who fought and died for the peaceful world his daughter sees today.

Unfortunately, in season 8 we learn that this ending won’t be in the works for TVD fans. Carl dies midseason, leading the series down a very different path from the comics.

Furthermore, in season 9, fans watched a very injured Rick Grimes get air-lifted after a bridge explosion to stop the dead from invading. Fans haven’t seen him or heard from him since then but, his death was never confirmed.

This leaves the audience to believe Rick Grimes may return for the 11th and final season of the show.

Stay Tuned For August 22nd

The writers won’t spill their guts about any upcoming details on the final season! Tune in on August 22 to AMC to watch the last premiere ever for The Walking Dead.
